La Foradà mountain view room at Casa Gallinera

Each room is named after a place in the region; this one is named after the mountain you're looking at: La Foradà. La Penya Foradà, or Foradada, located at an altitude of 737.2 meters, is the most iconic landscape feature of the Vall de la Gallinera, characterized by a natural opening at its summit, shaped like a stone arch, clearly visible from various points in the valley.

Twice a year, the solar alignment of La Foradada, or Foradà, can be witnessed in the Vall de la Gallinera. This astronomical phenomenon occurs when the sun passes through the opening at the top of La Penya Foradà. Its rays penetrate the arch in such a way that they illuminate the Calvary of Benitaia, where the Franciscan convent of Sant Andreu once stood.
